Dark Hot Chocolate

A decadent, dessert-like hot chocolate perfect for any time of the day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of whole milk or soy, almond, rice, coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon of dark cocoa powder I used Hersey’s Special Dark
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla sugar
  • 1/2 oz of chopped bittersweet or semisweet baking chocolate or dark chocolate of your choice
  • A pinch of salt

Optional

  • 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Chop the chocolate evenly with a knife.
  2. Add chopped chocolate, dark cocoa, vanilla sugar and salt into small saucepan. Whisk together.
  3. Add cup of milk and put heat on medium.
  4. Stir frequently and bring to a soft boil.
  5. When chocolate is melted and all the ingredients are incorporated, it is ready to be served!

Recipe Notes

Chocolate and sugar amount can be altered to personal taste.
For a thicker hot chocolate, add 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch. Stir continuously while heating to make sure it mixes evenly.
