Cinnamon and cloves make this Glühwein or mulled wine a perfect hot drink for the winter holidays. Plus, it make your house smell great while it simmers.

of a cup of sugar
bottle of red wine
Slice lemon into wedges.
Put everything into a medium saucepan.
Simmer on low (no boiling!) for 15 - 30 mins.
Set aside to cool for a bit.
Ladle or strain into hot wine into mugs or heatproof glasses.
Sip and feel the glow!
- More sugar can be added to individual mugs to taste.
- Instead of regular sugar you can use honey.
- Orange can be substituted or added to the lemon.
- Experiment with adding 2 juniper berries, a few gratings of nutmeg, 3 cardamon pods or 1 star anise.
